Anomaly Detection → Microsoft Teams
DevOps Engineer @ Accuris
A New Relic anomaly detector built in Power Automate that catches anomalies and posts real-time alerts to Microsoft Teams.
Impact
- Real-time alerts in the channel the team already watches.
- Faster awareness of issues, with no dashboards to babysit.
- A simple, no-code bridge between observability and chat.
The problem
Anomalies in New Relic only helped if someone was looking at the right dashboard at the right moment. Important signals sat there unnoticed until they turned into incidents, and the team had no easy way to hear “something looks off” when it happened.
The approach
I built a Power Automate workflow that watched New Relic for anomalies and posted an alert into Microsoft Teams through an incoming webhook as soon as it caught one. Instead of people checking the dashboard, the dashboard came to them.
Keeping it in Power Automate kept it easy to read and change. The whole flow is editable without a deploy, which is what you want from glue like this.
The impact
- Real-time alerts in the channel the team already watches.
- Faster awareness, with no dashboards to babysit.
- A simple, no-code bridge between observability and chat.
